Why study routines collapse.

  • The plan is too ambitious: it assumes more time, energy or concentration than the candidate reliably has.
  • The plan has no fallback: when a session is missed, there is no smaller version of the plan to keep momentum.

Situation: you miss Monday’s study session and then avoid study for the rest of the week. Less useful: wait until the next Monday to restart. Better: use a restart rule where the next available 20-minute session restarts the routine.
